Second Round 73 Makes Cut At Wells Fargo

Pat Perez got a few on the front nine, was back at even with three top play and got it to one-even on the day—even on the event—to make the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Perez opened with a par and immediately began making moves with a 22-foot birdie putt on the par-three second. From there, three consecutive pars before a bogey-birdie run.

Perez hit his tee shot 193 yards to the left rough on the par-three sixth, came back with a 41-foot shot to the left fairway, setting up a 16-footer for par that rolled long, leaving a 14-incher for four.

On the par-five seventh, a 294-yard tee shot to the right rough, followed-up by a 226-yard shot to the left rough, where Perez punched out, landed on the green and left a three-footer for birdie, getting back to one-under on the day.

From there, five consecutive pars—missing a nine-foot birdie opp on No. 10—before a bogey on the par-three thirteenth, where another nine-foot putt didn’t go where it needed to, leaving a 16-inch bogey putt for a four, getting Perez back to even on the day.

Back-to-back pars followed before a birdie-birdie run that set the stage for weekend play.

On the par-four sixteenth, a 318-yard tee shot to the left rough, followed-up by a 209-yard shot to the green, setting up an 11-footer that Perez drained. Moments later, with the cut on the line, Perez stuck his tee shot to within six-feet from the hole on the 227-yard par-three seventeenth, serving as insurance and getting him to two-under on the day.

The extra birdie wound up saving the week as Perez bogeyed the par-four eighteenth courtesy of a 301-yard tee shot to the fairway bunker, a 161-yard second shot to the right rough and an 88-foot shot to the left fairway, reaching the green and leaving a 17-inch putt for five.

Perez averaged 290.5 yard driving distance, hit 69.44-percent in greens-in-regulation, was 57.14-percent in driving accuracy and -0.092 in strokes gained putting.

Saturday’s “moving day” go-time is set for 7:48 a.m. ET, where Perez will be paired with John Huh.
