Second Round 70 For Perez At Memorial

After missing his first cut of the season, Pat Perez is officially starting a new streak—going 71-70 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in the opening rounds of the Memorial.

Perez opened Friday’s round with a bogey on one, but picked up two over the next four holes. Perez birdied the par-four third, hitting his drive 242 yards to the right fairway and his second shot 151 yards to the green.

From there, Perez dropped a 40-footer for birdie and quickly got back to even on the day.

After pars on four and five, Perez birdied the par-four sixth, hitting 298 yards to the right fairway and putting his second shot on the green. From there, a 12-footer fell for a three and Perez was one-under on the day—where he’d stay through the turn, closing the front nine par-par-par.

On ten, Perez hit his drive 289 yards to the fairway bunker and his second shot 68 yards to the right fairway. Perez’ third shot flew 103 yards to the green and a 7-foot par putt missed, leaving Perez with a tap-in bogey.

Perez responded by crushing his drive 311 yards on the par-five eleventh, followed by a blazing 263-yard second shot that reached the green, leaving Perez with a make-able seven footer for eagle.

From there, a birdie on the par-three twelfth had Perez at three-under on the day—sticking his approach shot 157 yards onto the green and sinking a four-foot birdie putt.

Perez found the right rough on the par-four fourteenth and sent his second shot 93 yards into the right intermediate. Shot three made it 41 yards to the green, but an 11-foot par putt came up short and Perez settled with a two-footer for bogey.

Perez closed the rough with four consecutive pars and average 289.3 yards in driving distance, 66.67% in greens-in-regulation and 64.29% in driving accuracy.
