69-69 For Perez After Two Rounds At Colonial

Pat Perez is two-under after two rounds at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, carding a second round 69 on Friday—taking a less scenic route to Thursday’s matching score.

Where round one was comprised of five birdies, a bogey, a triple and eleven pars, Friday was a bit more even-keel as Perez picked up three birdies and gave two strokes back on the day.

Perez started on No. 1 and opened with three consecutive pars—a four-foot birdie opportunity rolling long and wide on the first hole, nine-footer slightly missing on No. 2 and a clutch chip-up fro the right green side bunker on No. 3, setting up two-foot par putt.

Perez gave one back on the par-three fourth after hitting his tee shot 190 yards to the left rough and his second shot 68 feet to the green, leaving an eight-footer that rolled wide and long.

After making par on No. 5, Perez picked up the day’s first birdie on the par-four sixth, chipping in from the right intermediate, 32-feet out.

Four consecutive pars followed before a bogey on the par-five eleventh, where five-foot par putt ran wide. One over on the day, Perez went par-par—with a brilliant sand shot the par-three thirteen, hitting his second shot 64 feet to the green, setting up a one-foot tap-in for par.

Perez got another back on the par-four fourteenth, hitting his tee shot 283 yards to the left fairway, following up with a 152-yard second shot to the green and rolling in an 18-footer for three. After back-to-back pars on No. 15 and No. 16, Perez birdied the par-four seventeenth, rolling in a 12-footer and getting to one-under on the day.

From there, a 40-foot birdie opp on No. 18 didn’t break, leaving a six-inch tap-in for par and closing out a second round 69.

Perez averaged 266.50 yards driving distance on the day, was 67.86 in driving accuracy percentage, 72.22-percent in greens-in-regulation, 60-percent in scrambling and -0.52 in strokes gained putting.

As of 1:00 p.m. CT, Perez is currently T23rd and six strokes off the lead, with the projected cut at plus-one.

Saturday’s tee times will be announced at the end of second round play.
