Opening Round 70 For Perez At OHL Classic

Pat Perez was consistent all day, put together a late charge with three birdies, but bookended his round with a pair of bogeys en route to an opening round 70 at the OHL Classic on Thursday at Mayakoba.

Perez got rolling early, helping him get in a full round before tropical storms rolled in and halted play mid-afternoon.

Starting out on the back nine, Perez opened with a bogey on the par-three tenth but responded with 11 consecutive pars, before a birdie on the par-three fourth. Back at even on the day, Perez would par the next two holes before closing with a birdie-birdie-bogey finish.

Hole-by-hole statistics weren’t available in typical ShotTracker fashion with this week’s PGA Tour event taking place in Mexico, but some stats have been made available. Perez averaged 71.43-percent in driving accuracy, 280.5 yards in driving distance, was 72.22-percent in greens-in-regulation and 1.846 putts per GIR.

Friday’s tee time is currently set for 11:50 a.m. local on Friday, but could be pushed back due to Thursday’s inclement weather and afternoon delay. Perez will again be paired with Shane Bertsch and Whee Kim and will go off of No. 1 at El Camaleon.

GolfChannel coverage will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET all week from Playa del Carmen.
