Perez: 72-73 After Two At CIMB Classic

Pat Perez is back in action for this weeks CIMB Classic in Malaysia at Kuala Lampur Golf and Country Club. Perez fired an opening round 72 and followed with a second round 73—wrapping his final five holes after a temporary weather delay.

Thursday’s opening round got off to a consistent start, with five consecutive pars. Perez suffered a setback with a bogey on the par-four sixth, but responded with a birdie on seven and was back to even on the day.

Four pars followed before a bogey-par-par-bogey run between twelve and fifteen, dropping him back to plus-two on the day—but a strong birdie-birdie-par finish got Perez back to even after one.

Friday’s round opened par-bogey-birdie on ten through twelve, followed by nine consecutive pars. Perez then birdied the par-three fourth when player heard the horn blow once; signaling the immediate stoppage of play.

After play resumed, Perez went bogey-par-bogey before knocking down two final pars en route to 73.

Without the PGATour’s ShotTracker efforts overseas this week, play-by-play and the standard post-round stats are not available.

The late round bogeys dropped Perez from T35th to T48th, but with no cut line for this week’s smaller field, the Tour veteran will have two days this weekend to make up for lost ground.

Saturday’s tee times have been announced, with Perez going off No. 10 at 8:35 a.m. local, with some unexpected comic relief as the pairing includes friend, Scottsdale neighbor and lover of obscure 80′s-era new wave, Tim Clark, as well as Anirban Lahiri.
