Perez: Eight-Under After Two At Quicken Loans

Pat Perez put together back-to-back round of 67 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course and enters the weekend eight-under at the Quicken Loans National.

Perez’s bogey-free round on Thursday featured four birdies—three on par-fours and one on a par-three. Perez rolled in a 17-footer for three on No. 6 and a clutch eight-footer on the par-three eleventh, before a birdie-par-birdie-par finish.

On Friday, back-to-back pars opened the round before the day’s first birdie.

Perez hit his tee shot 299 yards to the left fairway on the par-four twelfth and his second shot 190 yards to the green, setting up the 12-foot birdie putt. From there, back-to-back pars before getting to two-under on the day.

After hitting his tee shot 294 yards to the right fairway and his second shot 187 yards to the green, Perez rolled in the ten-foot for three.

Two consecutive bogeys ensued, bringing Perez back to even on the day—but a birdie-birdie stretch put him back on track.

Perez hit his tee shot 270 yards to the right fairway on the par-four eighteenth and his second shot 187 yards to the green, setting up a 17-foot birdie putt that he knocked down. After the turn, a 266-yard tee shot to the right fairway on No. 1 and a brilliant 150-yard second shot to the green, leaving a two-foot tap in.

Back at two-under, Perez had one final blemish on the day; bogeying the par-four second—but responded with two consecutive pars before rattling off three birdies in a row, getting him to four-under on the day, where he’d stay.

Perez birdied his first par-five of the week on No. 5, hitting his tee shot 262 yards to the right rough, his second shot 180 yards to the left fairway and his third shot 84 yards to the green; setting up the eight-footer.

On the par-four sixth, a 283-yard tee shot to the fairway bunker and a 129-yard second shot to the green, setting up a three-footer.

The morning’s final birdie came on the par-four seventh where Perez hit his tee shot 288 yards to the left rough and his second shot 161 yards to the green, leaving a four-and-a-half foot roll-in for Perez’s seventh birdie in 14 holes.

Perez averaged 292 yards driving distance, 71.43-percent in driving accuracy, hit 77.78-percent greens-in-regulation, 75-percent scrambling and 2.06 in strokes gained putting.

As of 12:40 p.m. ET Perez is currently T2 and one stroke off the lead. Saturday’s tee times will be announced at the completion of Friday’s second round.
