Perez Opens With 68 At RBC Heritage

An insanely hot start cooled off a bit late, but Pat Perez is still three-under after one at the RBC Heritage and enters Friday’s round in position to surge to the top entering the weekend.

Perez was in fire early, birdying seven of his first eleven holes on Thursday, the lone blemish, a bogey on the par-five fifteenth.

At six-under with seven remaining, a tough run on holes three to seven as Perez bogeyed the par-four third, doubled the par-five fifth and bogeyed the par-three seventh, though he did get one back with a birdie on the par-three fourth.

Regarding the seven on five, Perez opened with a 284-yard drive to the right rough and his second shot sailed left and into the water. After a penalty stroke was assessed, Perez hit a 59-yard shot to the front left green side bunker.

From there a little more grinding before a 7.4-foot putt finally fell and ended the frustration. Still, getting hot early allowed for the late round mishap and kept Perez in good company.

Friday’s tee time is 12:00pm ET and Perez will again tee it up with John Rollins and Justin Hicks. Follow the live leaderboard, PP’s scorecard and ShotTracker here all day.
