T21 At Quicken Loans; 46th In FedEx Standings

Pat Perez recently wrapped his 22nd event of the PGA Tour season; a T21 finish at the Quicken Loans National. It was Perez’s seventh Top 25 in eleven tries and eleventh consecutive cut, currently ranking him third on Tour.

Perez carded a final-round 71 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course on Sunday; a birdie-birdie-par finish helping him jump 18 spots on the final leaderboard.

After three straight pars. Perez bogeyed the par-three fourth and went par-par-par before birdying the par-five eighth. Perez hit his tee shot 323 yards to the right fairway, his second shot 238 yards to the front left green side bunker and chipped up to within three feet, where he rolled in his birdie putt.

After pars on No. 9 and No. 10, Perez bogeyed the par-three eleventh, getting him back to plus-on on the day. Three consecutive pars followed; Perez’s best look at birdie—an 18-footer on the par-five fourteenth.

From there, a bogey on the par-four fifteenth had Perez plus-two on the day, but birdies on the next two holes got him back to even, where he stayed after parring No. 18.

Perez hit his tee shot 169 yards to the green on the par-three sixteenth, setting up an 11-foot birdie putt. On the par-four seventeenth, a 245-yard tee shot to the left fairway and brilliant 136-yard shot to the green set up the one-foot tap-in for three.

Next up for Perez; the year’s final major as he’ll take on Whistling Straits for next week’s PGA Championship. From there, one final off-week to recharge before attempting to make a run at the 2015 FedExCup Playoffs.

Perez’s current FedEx raking of 46th has him in The Barclays (Top 125), the Deutsche Bank Championship (Top 75) and BMW Championship (Top 70), where he’ll need to make an early run in New York and Boston to stay on point for Chicago before the Tour Championship reseeding.
