Perez On A Tear At The Memorial

Pat Perez is back in action this week after a W/D at last week’s Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial event due to a strained shoulder / chest muscle. Perez had played four straight, with a T32nd at the Wells Fargo Championship and T77th at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, but missing the cut at The PLAYERS and withdrawing at Colonial.

Having played his way into this week’s event at the Memorial, Perez is making the most of the opportunity. An opening round 72 was followed by a second round 69 on Friday, putting him in the top ten entering Saturday’s round.

On onslaught of birdies in the first two rounds – nine total – were somewhat negated by some tough holes as Perez picked up four bogeys, and a double on the par-five fifth in round one.

Round two was a great bounce-back for Perez, opening with two pars, birdying the next two, but giving them back on fourteen and eighteen, returning him to even at the turn. On the front nine, a great stretch for Perez where he picked up three birdies, six pars and no bogeys. It was similar to Thursday’s back nine where Perez was plus-three at the turn, but birdied ten, eleven and fifteen, getting back to even on the day.

Tune in all weekend to see how things wrap up in Dublin, Ohio.

Cinderella’s Tom Keifer Goes Solo

Check out the new track from Cinderella frontman Tom Keifer as he finally put out his much-anticipated solo record. Keifer blew out his voice years back, but healed up and released a great album. This is the video for the first single “Solid Ground”. Dig it because it’s better than about 99-percent of the garbage out there these days.

Perez Fires Second Round 69; Makes Cut At Wells

After an opening round 76, making the cut looked like an uphill battle for Pat Perez, but after reeling it in and playing near mistake-free golf on Friday, a second round 69 will have PP playing this weekend at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte.

Perez was one-under after eight on Thursday, but carded five bogeys over the final ten holes for an opening 76.

Friday’s round opened with a birdie on the par-three second and after a birdie on the par-five fifth, Perez bogeyed six, but got two back on eight and ten, parring his final eight holes in route to a second round 69.

Perez has swing coach Mark Winkley on the road in Charlotte this week and for The PLAYERS next week in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The two did some fine-tuning on the range post-round Thursday and it paid off in round two.

Saturday’s tee time is set for 8:46am ET and Perez is paired with Scott Brown. Follow the live leaderboard, PP’s scorecard and ShotTracker all weekend.
